Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange : Post-Doctoral Research Grants(MACECE):

Etats Unis d'Amérique USA
Jusqu'au 15-11-2019

If you currently hold a Ph.D. you could be qualified for this research grant, which offers a three-month research period in a U.S. University or institution.

The Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange is now accepting applications for post-doctoral research grants from Moroccans who hold teaching and/or research positions in Morocco. The application deadline for the 2020 competition is November 15, 2019. Selections will take place at the Commission in Rabat between late December and early February.  Those selected for grants  may not leave for the United States before July 1, 2020.

WHAT IS THE POST-DOC GRANT ?

The Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange holds an annual competition for Moroccan Ph.D. holders with teaching and/or research positions in Morocco.  The Post-Doc is a three-month research at an American university.  Like all Fulbright grants, all subjects are eligible; those proposing research in medical or legal areas need to check with MACECE to see if their research could be accepted. The grant period must be continuous and with no interruptions.

The application process begins with the Moroccan researcher contacting an American university or otherwise scientific colleague who agrees to host the Post-Doc grantee at their university or institute for the entire grant period.

Applicants must have adequate spoken and written English to do the research, deal with colleagues in the USA, and get around in everyday life.  They must state why the proposed research needs to be conducted in the USA as well as the expected benefits of the research.

Post-Doc Applications must include :

  • A completed and signed grant application form;
  • documentary proof that the applicant holds a Ph.D., a Doctorat d’Etat, or equivalent;
  • evidence of an adequate level of English, for example:
    • a score of at least 475 on the paper based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language); or 52 in the internet-based test (IBT); OR
    • a degree from an English-language university or a university diploma certifying a major in English Studies;
  • The applicant’s CV, in English, with a complete list of publications and conference presentations and including foreign travel;
  • A detailed description of the applicant’s research project in English;
  • An invitation letter from the American professor or host institution, clearly stating their agreement to provide adequate facilities and assistance during the grant period;
  • A step-by-step plan of research for the period of the grant, outlining the timing and goals of the research;
  • Three letters of recommendation from colleagues or others able to comment on the applicant’s level of commitment, academic record, and the suitability of the research project;
  • The approval of the director of the applicant’s institution in Morocco;
  • Two recent photos.

Applicants for the Fulbright Post-Doc should select in their application the academic year 2020-2021. Failure to do so will result in the ineligibility of your application.

The Post-Doc Research Grant covers :

  • Round-trip airfare;
  • A monthly stipend;
  • A settling-in allowance, a professional allowance, and, if necessary, an allowance for dependents;
  • Health insurance.

Eligible candidates should apply online, for which the link will be provided in due time.

NOTE: Applicants in the medical sciences must show that their project is a research project and not a technical internship. The letter of invitation from the applicant’s research partner in the United States must be very clear on this point.

 Important restriction:  Permanent residents of the United States (holders of the “Green Card”) or Moroccan-American dual nationals are not eligible.

*Like all Fulbright programs, the Post-Doc grantee must pledge to return to Morocco upon completion of the program.
